Pet Surgery From Rainbow Vet Hospital

Unfortunately, most pets will need some kind of pet surgery at some point during their lives. For most, this is simply a routine spay or neuter surgery, which we offer here in our office. The purpose of a spay or neuter procedure is to prevent your pet from being able to reproduce, which is a great way to do your part in controlling pet population and keeping innocent pets from being euthanized.

However, there are many other medically necessary reasons as to why your pet may need a surgery at some point, whether it be an exploratory surgery to determine the cause of your pet’s symptoms or an emergency surgery to save its life. No matter what type of surgery your pet may need, you can always rest assured that your furry friend will be in good hands with our skilled and experienced staff here at Rainbow Vet Hospital.

What to Expect From Pet Surgery

We’ll always begin with a consultation, where we’ll get to know your pet (if we haven’t done so already through routine wellness visits), the symptoms your pet is suffering from, and more about its medical history. From there, we’ll explore potential alternatives to surgery (we always consider surgery as a last resort).

If surgery turns out to be the best option for your pet’s health, we’ll then take the time to ensure that you are thoroughly informed about the procedure and that we answer any questions you may have. With all surgical procedures, pets will receive a customized treatment and management plan, which is designed to keep your pet as comfortable as possible. This may include the use of anesthetics during the procedure and pain-killer medication following the surgery, for example.

During the procedure, your pet will be carefully monitored to ensure that everything is going as planned. This includes the use of advanced equipment to keep an eye on your pet’s blood pressure, oxygen levels, heart rate, and more.

Following the procedure, we’ll continue to monitor your pet and move him or her to a comfortable recovery area. Once your pet has recovered sufficiently, we’ll contact you to pick up your pet and provide you with all the follow-up care instructions you need.
