Pierce College Veterinary Volunteer
Ashley knew she wanted to work in the veterinary profession ever since she was five years old. She would come home from school and watch animal shows on television, and would even practice wrapping up fake wounds on her animals as a child!
As a junior in high school, Ashley took a class at a local animal shelter. After a field trip to Pierce College to learn about the Veterinary Technician and Pre-Vet programs there, Ashley knew it was the path for her! She started in spring of 2010 and is currently volunteering at Rainbow Veterinary Hospital to complete her clinical experience hours. She chose Rainbow because of the friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff.
Ashley has several pets of her own: Patches, a five-year-old cat, Layla, a four-year-old dog, and her bird Onyx who loves talking to himself in the bathroom mirror. She also has two rabbits, Pebbles and BamBam. In her spare time, Ashley likes taking care of her animals and cleaning their cages daily. She also likes reading, which she does whenever she has a spare moment.
