Jacques & Apples (also known as the dynamic duo “AppleJack” on Facebook) are two miniature longhaired, dappled Dachshunds that were born April 1st, 2014 in Apple Valley. Their mom and dad—the Metzgers—wanted to welcome two new puppies into their loving home. They hand-picked these two special pups as their mom has always loved and owned miniature, longhaired Dachshunds. Apples was true to the expected size and look of her breed whereas Jacques forgot and decided to become the bigger sibling (quite literally) and lost his spots.
Jacques is Dr. Metzger’s special assistant at the hospital as he has become accustomed to being the in-house dog. This very outgoing and devilishly handsome boy enjoys saying hi to clients and their pets. He loves to eat, sleep, chase the little critters around his home, and he especially craves some TLC (Tender Loving Care) from everyone who sees him. Jacques sometimes makes messes when he is upset, but he nevertheless is the star and mascot of Rainbow Vet Hospital. He even has an Instagram account (@lifeofjacque)!
Apples, on the other hand, likes spending quality time with her mommy and she comes to join her brother and dad at Rainbow some days of the work week. Apples has her favorite toy—Mr. Fox—with her at all times. Although she has a quieter, more shy side, Apples is equally as active as her bigger brother. She enjoys playing in her kiddie swimming pool with ice cubes and is always bullying her brother Jacques despite her petite size.
